To enhance quality of ECD programmes that lead to improved child outcomes, ECD practitioners must have the relevant and appropriate tools and resources to support their work. AfECN works to identify critical gaps in the availability of programme support resources, then develops those required through a bottom up approach. Countries across the continent are involved in the development of these materials and tools — including quality standards and frameworks, and a regional ECD resource kit — which they can in turn adapt to their own unique context.

Strategic Activities

1. DEVELOP A QUALITY IMPROVEMENT FRAMEWORK

Collaborate with country teams will develop a regional quality framework that will set out standards expected of quality ECD services, identify methods of evidencing their achievement and provide practical tools that can be used to support continuous improvement in delivery of centre or home based services.

2. DEVELOP A REGIONAL ECD RESOURCE KIT

Identify gaps in key ECD resources and materials and create an ECD Materials Framework. Disseminate the Framework for material use and adaptation to the local context.
